• For two world-traveling, Tampa-born women, swimwear is a love language, but we both struggled finding flattering suits for our tall, uniquely shaped bodies. We were tired of constantly adjusting and pulling to get the perfect fit, so we decided to make our own pieces. Our vision is to take the pain out of the swimwear shopping process for every human that doesn’t fit the industry standard.

For our first ever meeting to discuss what our brand would be, we met at a popular Downtown Tampa area and locked eyes on a local restaurant with the word “Split” in the name. We realized that, not only did it help encompass Tampa, but the word split is also two halves of a whole, just like the two of us. For two people that are so similar and yet so different, we needed a name that encompassed our identities and our origin, and so Split//Swim was born

  • Amber Mirabello

When it comes to her interests, Amber has always felt pulled in many directions. She played Division I Indoor and Beach Volleyball at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she earned dual Bachelors of Arts in Graphic Design and Economics. She then played overseas while earning her MSc in Marketing at Durham University in the UK. Amber is an out lesbian who has travelled to 42 countries and lived in 4; she likes to think this has allowed her a unique world view. She gives credit of her intense desire for equality not only in Split Swim, but also within her own life, to her travels, her sexuality, and her personal relationships. She is always learning and fighting for what she feels is right, and will always continue to do so.

Her vision for Split Swim is a brand that shakes up the swimwear industry and encourages others to include sizes that fit all gender identities. Split Swim hopes to reach trans-women, non-binary people, and eventually plans to create masculine swim as well. Inclusivity of all races, body types, and gender-identities is paramount to Split Swim’s long-term identity as a brand. As a creative, she is proud to have built something that celebrates humans as they are.

  • Liz Hirschauer

During the summer of 2015 before entering her senior year at Florida State University, Liz took a 3 month trip to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and returned home with a completely new mindset. She realized the traditional nine-to-five post-graduation grind wasn’t for her. In line with her free-spirited nature, Liz has traveled to 52 countries and deeply cherishes her memories globe trotting with only a backpack as her lifeline. Throughout all of her adventures and time spent living overseas, she has discovered a deep love of cultures and indulging in the daily rituals of her environment. She has been molded into a pizza-loving, sunset-chasing, book-devouring yogi.

To her, Split Swim is so much more than just swimwear, it’s swimwear with a powerful mission. It’s about designing suits that compliment your body, not constrict it. Suits that empower you to feel confident and comfortable in your curves and embrace those parts of you that society has labeled imperfect. It’s about building a community that uplifts, supports, and celebrates one another. Split Swim aims to break barriers and set a new standard for the swimwear industry.
